Pavilion
A Temporary Pavilion in the garden of Villa Romana
Thanks to the generous support of our patrons Arend and Brigitte Oetker, Villa Romana has been able to set-up a temporary pavilion in its garden since autumn 2011. The pavilion has a floor space of approx. 80 m2 and is used for various events such as concerts, film screenings, symposiums and exhibitions. The first experimental pavilion was designed by Avatar Architettura, established in Florence by the architects Nicola Santini and Pier Paolo Taddei in 2001. The architecture has been built with wooden pallets and PVC film and received considerable coverage in architecture magazines.
In October 2017 a new glass pavilion, which allows views from all directions, was opened in its place in the Villa Romana garden. It was designed and made by Claudio Nardi, a Florence-based architect who has constructed the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow (MOCAK), which opened in 2011 and has won many awards.
